NAB SHOW 2018 ended successfully yesterday. In the past few days, we have seen many exciting technologies and products in AR, VR, AI, and cameras. Let's look back to know more about some fantastic products.
At NAB SHOW 2018, the Panasonic System Solutions Company of North America (PSSNA) showed us an end-to-end 360° VR live streaming demonstration. The system consists of Panasonic low latency 360° live camera, Haivision’s KN Max portable 4K encoder and LiveScale’s omnicast cloud distribution platform.
This complete end-to-end solution, the specific workflow, is the Panasonic 360° live camera (AW-360C10, AW-360B10) which can shoot 4K stereoscopic video. This platform then transmits the video to various outlets. It is ideal for live events and sports broadcasts, enabling broadcasters and producers to deliver a reliable and high-quality 360° experience to the audience.
“In the live broadcast, errors cannot be tolerant. We designed the AW-360C10 and AW-360B10 to exceed the needs of professional live event video producers. At the same time, we can provide a reliable 360 through an easy-to-use broadcast solution. ° Live Video,” said Delix Alex, PSSNA product manager.
"Haivision's KB Max portable 4K encoder and LiveScale's cloud platform are an important part of the real-time streaming media workflow, with SRT compatibility and stable playback of 360° video content over the Internet."
JVC brought new products in sports broadcasting. During the show, JVC introduced the GY-HM250SP, which has taken its motion camera series to new heights. The camera requires only a single staff member to shoot the event, and at the same time, it can superimpose the image in the camera so as to score soccer, baseball, hockey and other sports.
Additionally, as the Scorebot scoring system of Sportzcast was updated, scores and time data can be automatically updated and wirelessly transmitted to the camera. Of course, staff can manually update the game score. In addition, the camera can store up to 50 images in JPG or PNG format, such as the team logo.
This GY-HC900 HD camera may be of interest to sports broadcasters because it can be broadcast live without any external box or backpack
It is worth noting that the camera is equipped with three 2/3-inch CMOS image sensors for full HD images.
Redrock Microsystems, Disney/ABC TV Group and Disney Research, have introduced a stabilizer with a universal joint at the show. They claim that this stabilizer combines the advantages of universal joints, Stan Nikon, drones, and handheld camera technology, and can be used to capture "the action of characters in a movie and the angles that ordinary cameras cannot." At the same time, they also stated that the core technology of this product was jointly developed by the Disney/ABC Television Group and the Disney Institute.
For live broadcasts or pre-recorded news, sports, and other events for individual workers or small production teams, DigiBoom can lift the camera up to 8 feet off the ground (up to 12 feet for expansion accessories) while providing real-time power PTZ can keep the shooting stable.
In addition, field workers added that DigiBoom is easy to learn because many features are similar to traditional ENG (electronic news gathering systems). At the same time, DigiBoom's preferred cameras or cameras are Blackmagic Video Assist and Micro Studio Camera 4K.
The Chinese lens manufacturer LAOWA brought four film lenses for this exhibition. This is LAOWA's first movie lens series. Among the four lenses, LAOWA Cine 9mm T2.9 is an ultra-wide-angle E-port lens designed for the Super 35 movie projector. LAOWA Cine 12mm T2.9 is a PL-port movie lens. Both of these lenses use "zero distortion". The optical design can improve the authenticity of the imaging when shooting, and at the same time save time and energy for the later period.
As the world's leading headphone manufacturer, Sennheiser introduced a new headphone series, the 300 PRO series, on the NAB SHOW 2018. Currently, the series includes two monitor headphones and three microphones with both microphone functions. These headphones are mainly used for camera work and background communication. It is reported that they will be listed in August this year.
And compared to its new series of headphones, Sennheiser's AMBEO smart headset is also very interesting. This is a product mainly used for immersive media and VR. At this exhibition, visitors can experience the AMBEO smart headset, AMBEO VR Mic and Neumann KU 100 head recording microphone and watch a series of demonstration videos. In addition, Sennheiser also showed related hardware and software of its "AMBEO for VR" program partners.
Sennheiser is an alternative among many camera-related technologies and products. VR headsets are undoubtedly important in enhancing immersiveness.
In the past few days of the NAB SHOW 2018, we have seen many new products in cameras that are gradually merging with VR technology. Then we look forward to these 4K or 8K products and end-to-end solutions that bring us more professional, high-quality VR videos.
